DSG

If I had a pound for every time we’re asked if we can fix DSG gearboxes I’d be in Barbados sipping Pina Coladas.

We had one today, in fact. A DSG gearbox, that is. Not a refreshing beverage.

A VW Golf 7-speed DSG came into the garage. Its disgruntled owner complained about a shudder and the fact that the gears were not changing smoothly.

After an initial check and test drive, it was clear the car required a dry clutch replacement. We also put the car on the diagnostic machine to see if there were any electrical issues that would suggest a mechantronic unit fault. No fault codes found.

We replaced the DSG dry clutch, updated the vehicle software and carried out a re-learn procedure.
